Status of Influenza Virus Vaccine
for the 2017 Season Nation Lot Release

National Institute of Food and Drug Safety Evaluation (NIFDS) provides current status of Influenza virus vaccine (flu vaccines) for the 2017 season National Lot Release.

* The national lot release system has been implemented to further confirm the quality of each lot of product before it is marketed.

Sharing the currents of flu vaccines is for helping health professionals and consumers to make an accurate estimate of the supply of vaccine to resolve their concern about the shortage.

Until now (11, August), flu vaccines, which can inoculate up to 20 million children, are registered at the national lot release system from 9 companies including Greencross, Sanofie Pasteur, and etc.

-	In the case of the domestic manufactured flu vaccine, nine million doses of trivalent flu vaccines and seven million doses of quadrivalent flu vaccine were applied.
-	On the other hand, for the imported flu vaccine, ten million doses of trivalent flu vaccines and thirty million doses of quadrivalent flu vaccines were applied.
-	Each year, the flu vaccine requirement amounts to seventeen million to eighteen million people.

*	The trivalent flu vaccines includes three inactivated influenza viruses, two different influenza type A strains and one influenza type B strain.
*	The quadrivalent flu vaccines is designed to protect four different influenza viruses; two influenza A viruses and two influenza B viruses.

NIFDS also announced that has committed to ensure the supply of quality vaccine smoothly.
